Solid Core Swirl

Solid core swirls carry an opaque, tightly packed centre — often white with coloured stripes laid over it — instead of open threads.

What to look for

  • The core should read as a solid column when you look end-on.
  • Surface stripes over the core add value when they are crisp and unbroken.
  • Check the pontils for chipping around the cut, which is wear, not a mark.
